Will the iPhone take over the world?

I was wondering what you think of the iPhone. Maybe it's just me, but over time I could see the iPhone taking a huge chunk of not only the cell phone market, but also the smartphone market. Assuming this happens, does it level the cell phone industry between the United States versus the rest of the world in terms of handsets?
